Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work. (MSG) Colossians 3:22-25
I’m continuing to work through this passage, there’s so much in it. This week my focus was on “being confident that you’ll be paid in full when you come into your inheritance”. We know that there will be rewards in heaven for us as children of God. When we truly give God our absolute best, we can be sure that we will be rewarded. We can stand in faith on this promise as He who promised is faithful (Heb 10:23). God has been teaching me what it looks like to live confidently, to not worry, and trust Him with every aspect of my life.
I’m reminded of an old hymn My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less, we can be faith-filled and full of confidence as we stand on Christ who is our solid rock.
Is there any part of your life where you are not walking out the confidence that comes from trusting that God is faithful to the promises He’s made to you?
