AYRI Blogoversary- Year 2 Celebration + Giveaway

Wow, how this 2nd year has flown! It is with great joy that I celebrate 2 years of blogging on Are You Really In?

When I look back over the year on the blog, I can see that it has been characterized by a LOT of stretching which has caused me to grow in many areas. It’s been painful at times of course but on this side reviewing, I can see that it’s been good for me.

I’m been privileged to share some of the milestones and highlights on the blog: turning 30, being re-baptized, solo travelling and travelling to the UK. I’ve also blogged about very practical things like my No Spend Week and my 21 Day Daniel Fast.

A Practice of Journalling

Journalling is a habit that I’ve done for over 10 years now. Even as I’ve blogged here sharing portions of my journey publicly, I’ve continued to write and journal personally. The combination of blogging and journalling over these past 2 years has been really beneficial for me. Journalling keeps me grounded as I take a step back from all that’s happening around me and it becomes God and me getting down to the core, what really matters most. Then based on what He’s teaching me, I’ve shared here on the blog to help encourage and challenge others.

So this year, to celebrate Year 2 of AYRI, I’m giving away a journal as a way to encourage you to spend some time alone and pursue God about a specific area of your life. You can write about what He’s teaching you, what He’s trying to develop in you and/or how He’s revealing His purpose to you. Draw or colour if you prefer that format. Feel free to use this journal in the way that best helps you to grow.

I do want to mention though as it’s something I’ve experienced, don’t feel pressured to add something daily. If you make it part of your daily routine, that’s awesome but don’t force it. On the flip side, don’t go a really long time without using the journal either where it becomes really sporadic.

Let journalling become a regular practice (a habit) for you at the frequency that best suits the season you are in, recognizing that this will vary from season to season. Then there is the added bonus of flipping through the journal at a later date and being reminded and encouraged by what God has done in your life during a particular season. That’s a great benefit of journalling- a written record of what God did for you back then and what He can certainly do again!

One area Id love to focus on for the rest of my life is getting closer to God and being able to pick His sweet voice apart from all the rest of the chaos. I wanna know Him so well because He’s sweet.
All of the journal’s I’ve had so far are just for my conversations with God and my thoughts, dreams, requests, etc. Journaling really is beneficial because I get to look back and smile at what God has taught me, what prayers He has answered and how much I’ve grown.
I will always love it cause I’m a writer and I express myself better when I can write.

    1. Thank you for comment Rontee. You’re right, nothing beats getting closer to God and hearing His voice. Praying for you as you continue that journey with Him.

      1. Hi Rontee, you’re the winner of my blog giveaway, congratulations!! I’ll be in touch to advise on how you can collect your new journal.

I would like to add consistent exercise to my lifestyle.

I definitely agree that journalling is cool, promotes self reflection and records your life journey with our God. I am probably a bit extreme because I have different journals for different reasons. There’s the Bible study journal for when I am doing an indebt study over many days maybe months on a specific topic eg. Worship is my latest all consuming study. I also have a prayer journal to record persons I commit to pray for with brief notes on topic of the prayer.
My least favorite one is my hair journal where I have catalog lessons learnt from my favorite stylist. It catalogs my transition from natural to relaxed, product changes and practices. Impact of environment etc on my hair and hair care.
So yessss Tamika journalling is great!!!!

    1. Hi Julie-Ann, thank you for your comment. The hair journal is definitely unique but it makes a lot of sense as it’s a great way to track and collect info as you go along. Keep journalling!

    1. Hi Ayesha, thanks so much for your comment. It’s been a blessing to see what God has done so far and what he will do in the coming year 😀
