This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. Romans 8:15-16 (MSG)
God’s been showing me how much following Him is an adventure as He continues to reveal more as I spend time with Him. God created me with a strong sense of adventure and I enjoy travelling and exploring new places locally or overseas. Actually, last weekend I was able to explore new bays near me with a friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I also enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures to my own. I’ve been so blessed to be able to travel and experience so much at this stage in my life.
What God been teaching me this month is to apply that same passion I have to explore and discover the world, to my relationship with Him and really seek to know Him better and understand Him more. My church recently completed a series on the names of God and this slotted in nicely as I was able to learn more about God’s character and who He is through these names as each speaks to a different part of who God is. That in itself is a wonderful journey of discovery.
It’s an ongoing process as I learn more about a God who loves me unconditionally and shows me what real adventure looks like when I put Him first in my life. The verses above have also played a key role this week as I ponder the adventure of following Jesus and where He will direct me next.
So how do I add adventure in this season?
Adding Adventure to Year 29- Practically
- Obey God promptly– Acting and taking a step based on what God reveals to me
- Practise patience– Although God has awesome plans for my life, He also has His perfect timing
- Explore– Get off the beaten path and discover more of this beautiful world God created
What does it look like for you to be adventurous?
